MCSI the Embedded Systems Division of ICP America, announces the newest addition to the PROMDISK product line. Targeting diskless storage applications for the PCI platform, PCI PROMDISK has been designed to be PCI 2.1 compliant. Virtually any program developed to run in a DOS environment (QNX, ROM-DOS, etc.) on a PC Compatible system will have the flexibility of functioning diskless while using PCI PROMDISK, thus eliminating the system failures often associated with mechanical drives running in harsh environments. By using standard 32-pin Byte wide memories with a total capacity of 4MB plus the ability to emulate up to (3) read only or read/write floppy or fixed disk drives, PCI PROMDISK can be configured using SRAM and FLASH EPROMs (both 5V and 12V). Users are able to configure their drives as follows: (1) 4MB Drive, (2) 2MB Drives or (1) 2MB, (1) 1.5MB, and (1) 512K Drive. DOS can boot from PROMDISK Drive A and read the application code from a physical disk in the system because of PCI PROMDISK's compatibility with other drives in the system. To further secure mission critical data, PCI PROMDISK is able to perform a write protect when using SRAM through MCSI's PDPRO.COM Utility. PCI PROMDISK provides a flexible development environment in which programs can be tested and developed on standard PCI/ISA PC's.
